Power Plant
I went to a fantastic art show at the Power Plant in Toronto. It made me very giddy about art. I went on John Kormeling's Mobile Fun. I love Janet Cardiff's 40 Part Motet. It is beautiful. I saw it at the National gallery a few years ago and had to experience it again. And then Laura Kikauka's installation was over the top and amazing and inspired me to keep making crazy things... this is what artists do! Everyone must see this show. Its on until Sept. 6, 2004

Return to TypePad
I have decided to use this blog instead of the other one. Its good to compare a few programs. As much as I would like to use a free service, sometimes paying a little bit of money will make me want to post more...instead of using a free service and not really commiting to it. And this one is much easier to use. I like to be able to add pictures and links and people can comment easily. So there, I've made my decision and now I'm ready to be a 'blogger' for real.
The image today is a funny picture I took in Toronto last week. I like to see a snowman in the summer. That is funny. Good thing he's in the shade or else he's melt.
New blog
I've been trying a new blog program.
Please visit: http://kaleidoscopeart.blogspot.com/
Its a free service, but not quite as user friendly to post on.
I'm going to try using it for a while, so I will likely post there instead of here.
PLease start reading that one :)
I suppose this message is mostly for Tania because you're the only one who knows about my blog.
Oh, and my sister, but she could be having the baby Right Now!
Spinning Signs
Cheesy signs get me inspired. Right now, I'm trying to get a company to donate me spinning signs with the words CALM on one side and PASSION on the other, so when they spin really fast, you get COMPASSION. I have many ideas of what I want to do with these signs and where I want to put them.
I went to see Cathy Busby talk last night at the Carleton University art gallery. She's a smart lady.
Art In the Park
I've been a busy beaver preparing for the Art in the Park show this weekend. I did some ultra-fun street painting and I was selling my ColourForm paintings. It was a beautiful weekend in Ottawa, sunny and warm. I met lots of people and had so much fun!!! Yay for ART!!!! We need more of it...and EVERYWHERE!!!
Chicken Truck
Nips and Lipples
This is the sculpture I've made the Kiss and Tell silent auction fundraiser for ovarian cancer that takes place at Arts Court in Ottawa on Friday June 11. The call for art was on Sex and Intimacy. I made a mould for my lips and nipple and cast them in plaster with a wire coming out the back. I also used a photograph of lips and a nipple and had it lazer printed it on laminate. I like the way the texture of the wood can be seen through the image. I found the piece of wood on the weekend and put it altogether today. Sexy.....
New Flowers
I made this bouquet of telephone wire 'flowers' last night. I had found a huge bundle of wire last night and couldn't let it get thrown away...not with all those tiny coloured wires inside. What a treasure! It looks like 3-D scribbles. Everytime I make something new, I always start thinking how I can make a hundred of these and what can I do with them. I decided just to make a few for now. Sometimes its best to just to get inspired by making something new and not have to go into production on it :)
This is the view from my back roof-deck. Apparently due to some by-law, the landlord can't make a real deck, but a roof is good enough for me. It was such a beautiful crispy clear day today. There were wispy clouds of fluff. On the right and left of the roof, there are giant maple trees. I keep meaning to sleep out here and wake up early to watch the sun rise, but I keep chickening out. Maybe on a hot hot day in the summer.
Grass
I took this picture in Toronto last month. This is the patch of grass between the Toronto Dominion Towers. Sadly, was all chained off. I did not lie in this lovely grass, though. I like to lie in lush grass and gaze at the bright blue sky. I can't enough of the sky being so bright and blue you can harldy bear to look at it.
